SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

OUR SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SMS) EXPLAINS THE PATH TO SAFETY SUCCESS

1. Establish and maintain and effective system to inform our employees of how to prevent and eliminate exposures on the project.
2. Use proven means and methods to ensure our employees and subcontractors understand our safety processes
3. Implement strategies to ensure the safety management system is being applied on all projects.
4. Ensure our employees and subcontractors are held accountable for their actions by enforcing Colt expectations.
5. Develop specific metrics to measure our performance and identify our strengths and areas to improve.
6. Involve our employees in the process by sharing their ideas on how we can improve the safety culture.

SUPERVISON

SAFETY STARTS AT THE TOP

Our Site Supervisors have the experience and knowledge to implement the Safety Management System in an effective manner. They are exceptional leaders and have proven competency to:

• Identify hazards and take the right action to prevent potential risks and injuries.
• Conduct safety inspections of the jobsites to ensure all safety requirements are being met.
• Take appropriate action if unsafe conditions or unsafe behaviors are noticed.
• Welcome any third party safety inspections to conduct an unbiased assessment of our jobsites and safety practices.
• Site Supervisors are the key to our safety success and communicate as needed with our highly qualified Safety Team 24/7/365 on matters of safety. In addition, they participate in frequent Safety Calls, Project Managers Calls to discuss any safety concerns or events. They communicate to all employees the value of our company- wide Safety Alert System and immediately notify all employees of safety events that have a positive and negative impact.

SAFETY TRAINING

EMPLOYEES ARE OUR MOST VALUABLE ASSET

We realize our employees are our greatest asset. For this reason, we have a vested interested in employee safety and the training they need to make “better decisions”. Our employees are trained to identify unsafe conditions and to understand and use safe work practices according to the Site Specific Safety Plan. Colt Safety uses high quality, interactive training techniques designed to give the employees information regarding the dangers of their task and the tools they need to avoid unnecessary mishaps. Most common Colt Employee training includes:

• Jobsite Orientation – We train all employees before they start on each and every new project.
• Critical 5 Plus – Fall, Electrical, PPE, Tools, Ladders & Hazard Communications
• Specific Training – Aerial Lifts, Scissor Lifts, Powdered Actuated Tools, Forklifts
• Supervisory Training – OSHA 10, CPR / First Aid
• Advanced Supervisory Training – OSHA 30, Safety Training Supervisor for Construction (STSC)

We believe accidents and injuries are preventable. Our management is committed to ongoing efforts and open to new ways of completing tasks safely so that we are consistently achieving our goal of zero injuries. Currently, we are raising the “Safety Bar” in our industry by having all of our Site Supervisors certified by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals as STSCs (Safety Trained Supervisors Construction).
